I adopted the weekly workout routine below from one I found online here. It was hard to fight the feeling that I wasn't working hard enough, like I would loose muscle mass I worked so hard for. With this routine I often left workouts feeling tired, but not worn out. I'm used to seeking the burn and a big pump, flooding my muscles with lactic acid and feeling tired and satisfied after a workout. For background I (21m) have been lifting barbell weights for the past 8 years. I was a bit nervous because this is a very different workout routine from what I'm used to. This manifests in shorter workouts with longer breaks, but with higher frequency. From what information I've gathered, my interpretation of his fitness philosophy is this: working out is a skill, and you shouldn't be exhausted while trying to cultivate that skill. This video is more about form and showing examples of different lifts, not explicit workout routine (look below for my routine). I started by watching Pavel's classic video Enter the Kettlebell. I was rotating between 7ish different kinds of lifts instead of the 25 or so that I was doing before with barbells. Functional, full body workouts as opposed to isolating only certain muscle groups. The benefits of kettlebell workouts were appealing to me. I was originally inspired to do this workout routine after hearing about Pavel on the Joe Rogan Expereience podcast and because COVID restricted my access to a traditional gym.
